Movies by the Bay in Altona: Captain Underpants (PG)

Enjoy great films under the stars at this popular free family event series. Bring your own picnic or stop at a local restaurant before the screening and enjoy a delicious dinner.

Logan Reserve 


Neda delivers original world music performances in Australia in and around the world.  Her music combines acoustic, world electro, samba and hip hop.  Inspired by Brazillian carnival traditions, All colour live comprises glamourous percussion, harmonies, turntablism, guitar, dance and more.  Featuring DJ Jumps (the Cat Empire).  Johnny Rollins has found his voice as an RnB soul artist.  He points to the careers of John Legend, Lenny Kravitz and Frank Ocean as his musical role models.  After making the finals on the Voice, Rollins has toured nationally and released his own music, including single 'High'.  The Rrrrrockets, Awesome music for kids and their parents! Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay - Community Celebrations 

Saturday 10 February


Hobsons Bay will proudly host the Queen's Baton Relay as it travels through Williamstown and Altona.  Cheer on the 32 baton -bearers at our two free community celebrations as they carry the Queen's Baton on its way to the ending at The Esplanade in Altona, the baton route takes in Hobsons Bay's beautiful coastal and heritage landscapes with plenty of viewing points.  Commonwealth Reserve in Williamstown will come alive from 11.30am with a family friendly program featuring Westside circus, Hoodoo Mayhem Brass Band, performance group Born in a Taxi and singers from Willin Wimmin.  Be there to see the baton arrive at Gem Pier on board the Tall Ship Enterprise at 1.15pm.

From commonwealth reserve, the baton will follow the coastline, along Point Gellibrand to end the first stage of its route at Williamstown Beach.  From there, the baton will travel by vehicle convoy to Kim Reserve in Altona, where the baton bearers will then travel south on millers road, before heading west along the esplanade to Logan reserve, before continuing to Maidstone Street.  From 12.30 pm, Altona's Logan reserve and the entire beach area will be filled with activities including netball, nippers, beach volleyball as well as a program of cultural performances celebrating the diversity of the Hobsons Bay community.  the baton will be welcomed into Logan Reserve at 3.25pm.  

11.30am to 3pm at Commonwealth Reserve, waterfront Williamstown

12.30pm to 4pm at Logan Reserve, Pier Street, Altona

Summer Sounds Skate featuring Jungle Cuffs, Hollow December and Plaza-Trg

Jungle Cuffs are Evie Vlah, Lauren Hunter and sisters Hannah and Neve Tullberg, supplying solid garage punk to scream along and jump around to.  Westside Freeza Battle of the Bands winners Hollow December have been playing and writing music for almost two years.  Their sound is predominantly alt-rock with varied influences from The Black Keys to Cat Empire to Radiohead.  They released their first EP this year, and you can listen and download it for free at www.hollowdecember.bandcamp.com .  Hailing from Hobsons Bay, and now with two EPs out, Plaza-Trg (comprised of Ryan, Sunny, Elena and Harry) has been creating and performing thoughtful indie tunes ever since they first met in high school.

The Annual Big Bay Swim starts at Sandridge Life Saving Club Port Melbourne at 9 am and finishes at Gem Pier Williamstown.
