Williamstown Beach

Bike Baths SpringThe beach is adjacent to the Williamstown Botanic Gardens. Williamstown’s older residents have happy memories of crowded gleeful summers spent at the beach, and its popularity has returned today.

The old baths, a prominent feature in antique photographs of the beach, vanished after being damaged by heavy seas in 1934. The clean lines of the Bathers’ Pavilion were avant-garde when the building was constructed in 1937/ 1938, and the building survives today as a fashionable restaurant. Further on, if you are taking the coastal road to Point Gellibrand, are a bandstand and the Williamstown Cricket Ground.
